(Check that boxy last-minute drum fill!) -Paper Thin Walls Between Amphetamine Reptile Records' demise and Touch & Go's increasing preference for the fashionable side of indie rock, it's getting harder and harder to find reliable sources of noise rock. The jury is definitely still out on where Norway Rat Records stands, but the label's bastard sons, rabrot, provide plenty of terrorizing crust rock to fill the gaps between your Jesus Lizard and old-school Melvins records. -Splendidezine "...Tonight promises to be extremely noisy and this is clarified as Norwegian three-piece Arabrot bludgeon with a superior onslaught of doom-punk heightened by some surprisingly funky and complex rhythms." - ZXZW review, Drowned in Sound "Overlooked Norwegian Weirdness 15 - rabrot - Rep.Rep (Norway Rat)" -Playlist compiled by Lasse Marhaug in March 2008 issue of WIRE magazine Artist: rabrot Title: The Brother Seed Label: Norway Rat Records Format: CD Distribution: VME Katalog No: RAT15 Length: 10 spor, 47:58 min Category: Noise, Avant-garde, Rock SPOR 1. So unfortunate as much of Scandinavian heavy-metal or heavy-music-with-metal-roots lends itself to an earnestly that s a bit blush inducing, noise-rockers rabrot on the other hand, along with many other stalwarts in the Norwegian underground, have grown in reputation for championing the weirdest of the ugly. Their unique attitude pushes the limits of heavy not just in terms of Slayer or Ministry though those influences are there, but in the strange rhythms of Captain Beefheart, the grooviness of Scott Walker, or the lyricism of Nick Cave. Since the critical acclaim of their first two albums Proposing a Pact with Jesus and Rep.Rep (notably produced by Billy Anderson of Melvins-Sleep fame), rabrot have been gearing up to take 2009 by storm. The Brother Seed is rabrot s third studio release, engineered by Steve Albini in his Electrical Audio studios, Chicago, IL and mastered by Bob Weston. The band will showcase in By:Larm 2009 in Oslo and head for the States shortly after for their first US tour, including a debut at SXSW Festival.
